Stella’s Daily Walk gets new style

Stella is so hardcore. It’s 28 degrees outside and that’s not stopping her one bit from our daily walking routine. There was one day she got really cold and turned around to head home, so I put her Snuggie on and she crushed our entire walking course like it was a nice spring day.

So then I was the big sissy. I wear a big down jacket when we walk, but my hands and ears were still freezing. Busted out the gloves so that solved the hand problem. Then Craig got me this PowerBar beanie to keep my head and ears warm. I look so silly in beanies but since it matches Stella’s snuggie, it was clearly a sign that I was meant to wear it.

Today I bundled Stella up in her Snuggie and put on my PowerBar beanie and we did our full walking routine…in 28 degree weather. Looks like Stella won’t be letting either of us slack on our walking regimen this winter!

Thanks M. Riley! Stella and I just started our serious daily walking routine last spring so this will be the first winter. Hopefully we’ll both be able to handle it lol. I may have to get her some doggie boots.

Stella is beyond adorable…and so are you. Am impressed with your walking routine despite the cold weather. Great for body and mind. Keep it up. BTW, how does Stella do in the snow?

Raw Lifter new to Equipment

Hey Kara, I just started competing in powerlifting and was able to qualify for the USAPL nationals with a raw total from my first meet. I don’t currently have gear, but was thinking it would be a good idea to get some and learn how to use it before that meet. My coach was telling me you have some pretty impressive numbers in the various lifts and might be able to give me a few tips on where to look for powerlifting gear and if there are any tricks to using it.

Conventional vs. Sumo Deadlift

Hey Kara, I’m trying to decide whether to pull sumo or conventional. My strength training background is mainly Olympic Lifting like yours and all the deadlifting I’ve done is Olympic pulls. Have you tried both sumo and conventional? Which is your favorite? And is there anything other than personal preference which can help someone pick whether they do one technique or the other?

So funny you mentioned doing Olympic pulls. That’s almost ALL I do and ever have done for my deadlift training…even for sumo powerlifting deadlifts! Heavy snatch and clean pulls. When meet time gets close I’ll do a couple of sessions sumo with and without the suit, just to get used to the technique, but my training is almost exclusively Olympic pulls.
